In 2018, I joined an expedition to the polar regions of western Greenland and Baffin Island. We sailed to various locations aboard a Russian scientific ship, then boarded small inflatable boats to visit some of the coastal areas. Ashore at Cape Mercy on Baffin Island we caught sight of a female polar bear – a tiny yellowish speck against the snow in the far distance. On the way back, we passed some bleached polar bear bones scattered across the ground. “This one was shot”, someone in the group said, pointing out a bullet hole in the scapula bone.

2018年，我加入了西格陵蘭與巴芬島極地的遠征隊。我們搭上俄籍科考船，航向不同的地點，接著搭上小型充氣艇，拜訪幾個沿海地區。在巴芬島上的慈悲角，我們見到了一隻雌性北極熊──遠處雪地上的一個小黃點。回程路上，我們經過一些散落在地上發白的北極熊骸骨。「這隻是被射死的」，團隊中有人指著肩胛骨上的彈孔說道。
